Crêperie Le Kreisker

Just a stone's throw from Place de la Comédie, Crêperie le Kreisker was founded in 1989 by Danièle Caroff, originally from Saint-Pol-de-Léon in northern Finistère. A true lover of Brittany, she draws her inspiration straight from her homeland — buckwheat flour, ciders, and salted butter are all imported directly from there. Authenticity is everything here: as Danièle puts it, the buckwheat and wheat batter recipes have stayed exactly the same since 1989 and never will change. Today the warm, modern dining room seats around forty guests (air-conditioned), plus about twenty more on the terrace, which is heated in winter and misted in summer.

The food celebrates the best of Breton tradition, built on carefully chosen ingredients: buckwheat flour from the Moulin de la Fatigue near Vitré, wheat flour from the Moulin de Sauret in Montpellier (a partner since the very beginning), and free-range eggs from Maison Trébuchon at the foot of the Pic Saint-Loup. Savory buckwheat galettes range from refined options like the Concarnoise (leek fondue and scallops) and smoked salmon creations to hearty cheese and meat fillings and the classic Tiercé with ham, egg, and cheese, generally priced around €8-13, alongside generous composed salads. On the sweet side, froment crêpes go from the simple butter-and-sugar and homemade salted caramel to indulgent flambéed versions and special creations topped with ice cream and cream, plus ice cream coupes — mostly in the €3-9 range.

To drink, the focus stays proudly Breton, with a fine selection of ciders — sweet from Château Lézergué, characterful brut from the IGP-certified Cidrerie Kerné, and oak-aged farmhouse cider from the Manoir du Kinkiz — as well as craft beers from the renowned Brasserie Lancelot. Open Monday to Saturday with continuous service from 11:30am to 11pm, it's a genuine taste of Brittany in the heart of Montpellier.
