The 33rd edition of this living-history reenactment brings a French Regime-era market day to life outside the museum at 350 Place Royale in Old Montréal, featuring period craftspeople, Indigenous artisans and military demonstrations over two free days.
Now in its 33rd edition, the 18th Century Public Market transforms the outdoor grounds of the museum at 350 Place Royale, Old Montréal, into a vivid recreation of a French Regime-era market day on August 29 (10 am–7 pm) and August 30 (10 am–6 pm), 2026.
Period craftspeople including a stonemason, weaver, blacksmith and wood turner demonstrate their trades, while Indigenous artisans share traditional knowledge and lead dreamcatcher-making activities.
A military encampment brings further historical atmosphere, with marches, live-fire exercises and fencing demonstrations suitable for all ages.
Admission is free. The event is part of the Summer on the Pointe 2026 outdoor programme.
