About
A group exhibition curated by Bénédicte Ramade examining how artists instruct generative AI systems to produce visual representations of animal, vegetable, and natural elements, on view at VOX, centre de l'image contemporaine in Montréal from January 15 to March 13, 2027.
Deepfakes: Prompts du vivant is a group exhibition that interrogates the instructions artists give to generative artificial intelligence systems in order to produce images that raise questions of verisimilitude and credibility.
Drawing on ancient sources or purely imaginary ones, the works transform animal, vegetable, and natural elements into new visual forms, engaging with the narrative strategies embedded in the production of scientific knowledge.
An accompanying essay by curator Bénédicte Ramade is forthcoming.
Admission is free. The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00–17:00.
