About

Shub, the Mohawk powwow-step pioneer and former member of A Tribe Called Red, performs at Place des Festivals in Montréal on August 7, 2026, as part of the International First Peoples Festival.

Shub (formerly DJ Shub) is a Mohawk artist, producer and composer from Six Nations of the Grand River who pioneered the powwow-step genre — a fusion of Indigenous powwow music with electronic and hip-hop influences.

Once a member of the JUNO Award-winning collective A Tribe Called Red, Shub is widely recognised for the track "Electric Pow Wow Drum", which has accumulated over 25 million streams. He also won Best Original Song at the Canadian Screen Awards for his contribution to The Grizzlies soundtrack.

His two-part project "Heritage" brings together electronic production, hip-hop beats and traditional powwow elements into a cohesive musical statement rooted in Indigenous identity.

This performance takes place on the main stage (Grands spectacles) at Place des Festivals as part of the International First Peoples Festival 2026.
